Complete renovation of a “seaside” style house
- Dimensions: 90 m²
- Objective: Reinforce the “seaside” aspect of this townhouse
- Furniture: Plum, custom birch plywood, Terrazzo Ad Lucem, Étoffe, Chicoutimi
Nestled in a narrow cul-de-sac stands this townhouse with a discreet but undeniable charm. Its slate roof, stone and brick window surrounds, and white facade give it an elegant and timeless appearance — though the house was in need of a fresh start.
A Seaside Exterior
For the exterior, the architect chose to reinforce the “seaside” character of this home by accentuating the blue tone of the shutters and certain facade moulding elements. This touch of blue, evoking the sea breeze, harmonises perfectly with the tranquil atmosphere of the cul-de-sac.
Offering a comfortable and pleasant living environment, a wooden terrace extends the house into the garden, where the interior and exterior merge. This carefully considered landscaping breathes new life into this house, transforming it into a haven of peace — both modern and warm — where every detail contributes to a better quality of life.
Creating a Sense of Space
Inside, the need to create a sense of greater space was the guiding principle of our project. The kitchen, now open in a U-shape, extends along the garden facade, offering a calming and unobstructed view. The entrance, designed around an ingeniously drawn fitted wardrobe unit, opens onto a large birch bookcase that wraps around the fireplace, lending the whole a feeling of warmth and harmony.
The parquet and paintwork were refreshed with a palette of blues and whites from Farrow & Ball, particularly around the interior window reveals, adding a touch of discreet sophistication.
At the upper floor, the bedrooms were dressed with a single wall of wallpaper, accentuated by a ceiling colour: a vibrant red for the child's room and a soothing emerald green for the parents' room, creating unique and personalised atmospheres.
An Elegant and Functional Kitchen
The kitchen was built on an Ikea base, dressed with pieces from Plum: brass doors and handles that add a note of refinement. A tall unit, custom-made in birch plywood, brings a touch of elegance and functionality.
The terrazzo worktop from Ad Lucem, in blue, white, and gold tones, pairs perfectly with the deep blue of the facades and the golden gleam of the brass, creating an aesthetic that is both bold and delicate.
